Duties and Responsibilities

The Circuit Clerk serves as Clerk of the Circuit Courts, receives and files all lawsuits, indictments, motions and other related papers in all Civil and Criminal Cases filed in the Circuit Courts and issues all process including summons and subpoenas, draws jurors and qualifies juries, keeps a record of all judgments and executions, issues marriage licenses and keeps records of marriages, records medical and other professional licenses, issues passports, and registers citizens to vote and has other duties in handling elections.

Voter Information

To be eligible to vote:
  • you must be registered to vote 30 days prior to an election date.
  • you must be eighteen years old (you may register early but you must be 18 before the next general election).
To register to vote, come to office or fill out form and mail to office.

Absentee Voter Information
  • See eligibility to vote above.
  • Absentee voting begins 45 days prior to the election day.
  • We are open for absentee voting two Saturdays prior to an election date from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

Marriage Licenses

  • Both Parties must be 21 years of age to get married in Mississippi.  Parent’s approval and signature required for under age applicants.
  • Picture ID and Proof of age is required.
  • Both Parties must be present for the application.
  • To obtain a marriage license, both Parties must apply in person.
  • There is a $37 fee and it is required at the time of application.
  • There is no waiting period or blood tests in Mississippi.
