Collection Days

Garbage is collected once each week from single family homes and businesses.  Collection days are as follows:

Beat 1:           Wednesday & Thursday
Beat 2:           Monday & Tuesday
Beat 3:           Friday & Monday
Beat 4:           Thursday
Beat 5:           Tuesday

We ask that your garbage be placed out near the end of your drive the night before your pick up day.  Garbage is collected beginning at 5:30 a.m., Monday through Friday and on all holidays.  If you need more information about collection days for your area, please call 601-764-2111 or 601-727-2278.

Solid Waste is collected by people.  Glass can shatter and cut, medical waste can transmit disease, and chemicals can burn and blind.  Please be mindful and adapt best practices when preparing your garbage for pickup.  This ensures that you will continue to receive the best service possible and our workers can remain free from injury.

Bulk Waste Collection

Items we can help you dispose of include:  furniture, mattresses, small appliances and other items too large to fit in your bin.  Item we cannot dispose of include:  bricks, lumber, drywall, tiles, shingles, decking, fencing and other construction related materials.  If you have any questions regarding what can and cannot be disposed through the bulk waste collection, please contact the Solid Waste Department at 601-764-2111 or 601-727-2278 or contact your Supervisor.

Waste Tire Collection

Waste tire accumulations pose a threat to public health, safety and the environment with the most common problems being open air fires, mosquitoes and others pests.  The County offers a waste tire drop off to help residents properly dispose of waste tires.  The waste tire collection site is available for use by all residents of the County and small businesses who generate ten (10) tires or less per week.  For more information on hours of operation and location, please contact your local Solid Waste Officer or Supervisor.

Large quantity generators producing more than ten (10) tires per week will contact Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) at 601-961-5171 for the location of the nearest waste tire collection location to fit their needs.

Delays in Collection

Collection of garbage and bulk waste may be delayed from time to time due to holidays, equipment and mechanical problems or breakdowns. In these instances, collection will usually take place within the next one to two working days.  During emergencies and natural disasters, collection may be delayed until conditions are deemed safe.

Please do not report your garbage as missed until later in the day.  In most cases, crews are simply delayed.

Solid Waste and the Collection of Taxes

State law requires the Jasper County Board of Supervisors to provide for the collection and disposal of garbage and/or rubbish, and all persons in the County generating garbage shall utilize the garbage collection and disposal system. Failure to do so will result in penalties being placed on this property.

The Tax Collector shall not issue or renew a motor road and bridge privilege license for any motor vehicle owned by you or registered at your address unless Solid Waste fees are paid. Solid Waste statements are mailed in December and are due by March 31 of the following year.  Payment of all delinquent garbage fees is required in order to receive a motor vehicle tag.

Moreover, House Bill 991, which was introduced during the 2019 Legislative Session, gives the County the authority to take all or a portion of a resident’s Mississippi income tax return if that person is indebted to the County for Solid Waste fees.
